The PSBA Story

PSBA was founded in October, 1963 by men of vision, the best years of whose lives have been devoted to university administration and teaching, and in varied executive capabilities in business and industry, in the professions and in government services. It did not come as a surprise, therefore, that they have chosen to dedicate the School to the development of aspiring young men and women who would meet the manpower requirements of our economy as a developing nation.

The School was originally launched as a review and training center for Certified Public Accountants. Operating under the name of "Philippine Accounting and Taxation Training Services, Inc." (PATTS), and occupying a rented building in C. M. Recto Ave. Manila, it opened its doors for the first time in January, 1964 with an unprecedented enrolment of 1,200 CPA reviewees. It at once became the biggest CPA review school in the Philippines. The enrolment steadily grew - 1,300 in the second year of operation and 2,000 in the third year. The confidence of students in the integrity and competence of the founders and the faculty of the School was strengthened by the result of the 1964 CPA examination which included the PATTS reviewees among the first ten highest of the successful candidates. Since the products of the review program have been leading, both quantitatively, the yearly list of successful CPA examinees.

In 1966, the third year of its operation, the School started to offer under-graduate programs in business administration with an enrolment of 1,518. It also changed its corporate name to PHILIPPINE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, PSBA in short. The enrolment continued to increase every year, and today the School is considered one of the country's leading schools of business.

Aims and Purposes of PSBA

PSBA was conceived in the spirit of service to the Youth whose formal education in business she has to provide, and to society and the Nation as a whole whose support she must have in order for her to grow.

PSBA as an institution of learning, assumes the responsibility to educate the Youth so that they will become good citizens who will practice in their everyday life the true meaning of Christian living; and who will be able to co-exist in peace, friendship and dignity with their fellowmen.

PSBA commits to provide the students with education, which will develop in them analytical thinking, self-expression, moral and social responsibility, and the skill in discovering the truth. PSBA aims to the students the knowledge for effective action; to develop in them the capability to solve problems and reach decisions in sound and well-organized manner, and to assume responsibility for their decisions.

PSBA commits to equip the students with the basic essential knowledge for the specific careers for which they are preparing themselves. These aims and purposes are PSBA's response to the need of our country to prepare the Youth for their vital roles in our society.

The MIS Society

Year 1998 was a challenging year for the student of Management Information System (MIS). It was in this year of July that the idea of reactivating the Management information Society (MIS), which was formed in 1995, came up. With a vision leading towards the welfare of all the students, the credit goes to its 200 founding members, 6 founding officers and 2 founding advisers of the society. It was not mere undertaking to reorganize the society, from gathering of all its members, conducting elections, drafting the constitution and other activities, which are needed to formalize the organization. The unsolicited efforts, commitments and unity that we attained among the members made it possible for the Society, as a whole to surpass everything.

Amidst the difficulties, challenges and failures, it was as well a banner year for the new-named Management Information System Society, or popularly known as MIS Society. With benevolent support of the Student Council of 1998, the privilege to be one of the RECOGNIZED ACADEMIC ORGANIZATIONS of the Philippine School of Business Administration, Quezon City was given to the society in October of the same year. It was by this time that the society started to complete all its visions and missions, but the responsibility does not end there. The most tedious task is how to sustain and maintain the society and to keep it abreast with the changing world so that it will continue to be relevant in this institution.

Achievements of the society for the past years seem impressive. Membership expanded and visions were greater, its commitment to the institution- PSBA, Q. C., to the students and to God would be greater for the coming years.
